Soccer is the national sports in Brazil. It was introduced to the country in 1894 by a Charles Miller, a young Brazilian that after coming from England brings two balls and arranged the first official match in Brazil soccer history.

The first team in Brazil soccer history was the Sao Paulo Athletic Club. In spite of being considered the national sports, the Brazil soccer was not well seen until the 20s. At the beginning the intellectual class was against the practice of soccer in Brazil, because they thought it will increase difference in the Brazilian society.

The first record of professional soccer players in Brazil soccer, it was seen in the factories where the operators who were good players, because they played against each other and the winning teams get famous and so the products of that factory. And because of that, the operators who were good players obtain better salaries.

From that beginning to present, Brazil soccer has seen an incredible development. There are more than 10.000 professional players in Brazil and the country is the first world exporter of players to the richest soccer nations.

The most famous Brazil teams are: Flamengo, Botafogo, San Pablo, Fluminense, Santos, Gremio, Inter, Corinthiams. Also the numbers of fans of these clubs are amazing: Flamengo 33 millions fans, Corinthians 24 millions, Sao Paulo 10 millions. These are the clubs that has hade more international success in Brazil soccer: they have won several American Cups, Clubs Worldcup, and much more. Another great responsible for the famous of the Brazil soccer is the Brazil soccer team, the national squad that has won 5 world cups.

In a history full of success, the most famous defeat was the one that the Brazil soccer team suffered in his own land against Uruguay in 1950. In that ocasion, the Uruguayan team (two times champions) defeated Brazil by 2 to 1, in an overcrowded Maracana stadium that was sold out with 200.000 people. For this reason, and because they are neighbors, the two classics rivals of the Brazil soccer team are Argentina and Uruguay.
