The new Brazil flag keeps the traditional green and yellow colors, in honor to the battles and victories of the Brazilian army in defense of the country. The blue sphere represents the blue sky and the white line that goes across is there to gives the sphere a perspective notion.

The phrase "Orden e Progreso" in the flag of Brazil it is a resume from words of Augusto Comte, the creator of Positivism. The complete phrase was "love as a beginning and order as a base; the progress as and end", and the resume means "Order and Progress". The stars that you can see in the Brazil flag represent the 19 provinces that existed in the time of Pedro I. Nowadays you will see 26 stars representing the states and a district.

The way in which the stars are shown in the Brazil flag are supposed to be exactly the same as the sky was on the day the Brazil flag was created.
